Karma Samten Choeling exists to promote the study and practice of the Karma Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism in Sydney and the surrounding region of NSW, Australia.
The primary inspiration for Karma Samten Choeling comes from the Venerable Dekhung Gyaltsey Tulku Rinpoche, who has been coming to teach in this part of the world for some years. His work here has included a sequence of teachings, extending over years, explaining a major text on Mahamudra, the system of practice, meditation and insight that is at the heart of the Kagyu tradition.
Karma Samten Choeling also hosts visits from other teachers: Thrangu Rinpoche, for instance, was here in June of 2007.
